“Antimicrobial offers intelligent freshness using technology that delivers reliable and long lasting protection to fabrics.”
Antimicrobial fabrics and textiles are fiber-based substrates on which antimicrobial agents have been added on the surface or are integrated into the fibers, making a product that destroys or prevents the growth of microorganisms.
Antimicrobial Additives for Textiles & Fabrics
Antimicrobial safety spectrum includes clothing antimicrobial additives. Throughout the production process, these chemicals may be added into the clothing to make it resistant to microbes. An additive may contain a particular antimicrobial active ingredient, such as silver, which can be designed to match the type of material used, the manufacturing process used which the intended end-use of the textile.
Antimicrobial treatments can be applied quickly and cost-effectively to textiles and fabrics at any point of the manufacturing cycle, without affecting the inherent characteristics of the material. In addition to being added to the material itself, our antimicrobial additives may also be applied to any garment as topical or finishing treatment.
Antimicrobial additives are suitable for addition to both synthetic and natural fibers including:
· Polypropylene (PE)
· Polyethylene terephthalate (PET)
· Nylon (PA)
· Wool
· Cotton
· Silk
What are the Benefits of Antimicrobial Textiles?
Wash after washing, Antimicrobial textiles have been shown to withstand harmful bacteria by up to 99.9 per cent. This built-in safety ensures that the fabrics that benefit from our antimicrobial treatments are less susceptible to staining, odor and degradation. Research has also shown that antimicrobial textiles retain high levels of antibacterial efficacy throughout their planned lifespan, making them suitable for manufacturers of sportswear, hospital scrubs, nonwovens, bedding, industrial fabrics, workwear and a variety of other textile items.
